Hi swimmers. Well done to everybody who swam.. I’m delighted to tell you that the swimmer who was treated by paramedics at the start is sitting up and talking in hospital. A huge thank you to our amazing team of volunteer and professional medics. The results are online here – RESULTS 2017
So glad the lady is ok. Great event , really enjoyed. lovely shirt and great cake . Can’t wait for next year.
That’s good news!! Great event yet again.
Fantastic – I was in the water at the time a few meters behind the swimmer and the paramedic / medical response was really swift and calm – well done by planning and being organised you saved a life that day :-). Great event, I really enjoyed it, hoping to move up to the 6K next year. Phil.
Thanks Phil and all of the swimmers for being so calm when the swimmer was taken ill. I’ve been to visit her in hospital and she’s in good spirits and hopes to be back next year. The medical teams still don’t know what happened but thankfully we had everything in place to make sure that she got the best care possible. See you next year, Nicola
Thank you for a great event. 3k is my longest swim yet and I am raring to get back next year. However, a colleague has a child who is apparently releasing 30,000 eels into the lake this Thursday. Is this going to affect next years swim as I assume they will have grown somewhat over the next year? Still won’t stop me coming back though.
Hi David. Don’t worry, the elver release takes place every year and I’ve never seen a big one in there. I think the survival percentage is low (but don’t tell your colleague’s child!) and they swim upstream and away from the lake. See you next year, Nicola
